Eastern Nagaland to abstain from ULBs polls

Tuensang April 29 (MExN): The citizens of Eastern Nagaland have decided to refrain from participating in the upcoming Urban and Local Bodies (ULBs) election in the State, scheduled for June 26.

This decision aligns with the Chenmoho Resolution passed on February 23, 2024, wherein the citizens of Eastern Nagaland reaffirmed their stance against involvement in Central and State elections.

The resolution cites the failure to resolve the Government of India's offer for the creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) through the Ministry of Home Affairs. Furthermore, they pledge to abstain from engaging in any Central or State celebrations or events until the creation of FNT becomes a tangible reality.

It is noted here that the people of Eastern Nagaland also refrained from participating in the parliamentary election for the lone Lok Sabha seat from Nagaland held on April 19.
