In view of the upcoming festive season and Hornbill Festival 2023, the state capital Kohima is getting major facelift since the past few days.

The Power Department is seen attending the street lights in several parts of the city. Road repairing works have also started in the main town area.

Responding to the call of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) for beautification of Kohima city, the commercial establishments facing the road sides are busy white washing/painting their respective shops. Earlier, the KMC requested the commercial establishments to put up proper lighting/decorative lights.

All the residents within Kohima town area have been directed to remove construction materials or debris from the roadside by November 28 to ensure smooth movement of traffic. Kohima Deputy Commissioner Kumar Ramnikant in an order cautioned that the district administration would take measures to remove the debris without any prior information if they are not cleared by the deadline.

Mass social work in Kohima on Nov 28
Meanwhile, the Kohima DC has called for a mass social work in Kohima Town on November 28 from 6:00 AM till 9:00 AM involving all the district offices in Kohima, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) and Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industries (KCCI).

KMC Administrator T Lanusenla Longkumer has directed all the wards under KMC to conduct social work in their respective colonies/wards and also directed all shops and business establishments facing the road to operate their business activities only after 9:00 AM on November 28.
