Is the communitization programme bringing change to Nagaland?

Those who said “YES” had this to say:

• There is better coordination and the entire programme has become more effective than before.
Those who said “NO” had this to say:

• It is not working out as expected for the villagers and they want to revert back to old system, the villagers were given too little amount of money that they are unable to manage. This is just to shy away from the people’s problems.

• On paper it is recommendable, but in practice it is not working because the aim of the government is to control the people and wash their hands off it.

• Communitisation was present from before in Nagaland through the village. It is nothing new. It is an age old system that Nagas practiced from the beginning. The government destroyed it, and is now trying to bring it back so it can control ignorant villagers. Water supply, health and education are responsibilities of the govt to provide.

• It is a big deal over nothing. Naga villages are all communitised from time immemorial. It is nothing new. Don’t know why the govt is making a big fuss.
