On the morning of August 9 at around 8 AM, two occupants (male and female) of a scooty met with an accident at 3rd Mile, near Dimapur Airport, when a dumper truck hit the moving vehicle, killing one person on the spot and injuring the other.
According to the PRO, Dimapur Police, Bharat Laxman Mankad, both the deceased and the injured person were rushed to CIHSR while the truck driver has been arrested and is currently under police custody. It was not confirmed whether the driver or the pillion rider were wearing helmets when the accident occurred.
Further, the deceased has been identified as a 24 year old female, resident of Eralibil, who was on her way to work when the accident occurred. The driver of the truck is a 26-year-old male.
“The matter is still under investigation by the police so that is all we can provide as of now,” Laxman said.
