10 stations under NFR’s Lumding division earn ‘Eat Right Station’ certification

Maligaon, April 29 (MExN): In a significant step towards ensuring safe and hygienic food for passengers, 10 railway stations and the Divisional Railway Manager’s office canteen at Lumding under the Lumding Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have been awarded the “Eat Right Station” certification by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

The certification is valid from March 30, 2026, to March 29, 2028, in accordance with FSSAI guidelines.

The stations that received the certification include Silchar in Cachar district, Karimganj in Sribhumi district, New Haflong in Dima Hasao district, Diphu in Karbi Anglong district, Lumding and Lanka in Hojai district, Chaparmukh in Nagaon district, Jagiroad in Morigaon district, and Sarupathar in Golaghat district, along with the Divisional Railway Manager’s office canteen at Lumding.

The recognition follows a comprehensive audit of food stalls, catering units and food handlers at these locations to ensure compliance with food safety standards, including hygienic preparation practices, safe storage, proper waste management and the availability of nutritious food options for passengers.

The achievement reflects coordinated efforts by railway officials, health inspectors, catering units, authorised vendors and station management teams in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.

The “Eat Right Station” certification is part of FSSAI’s flagship “Eat Right India” initiative, aimed at promoting safe, healthy and sustainable food practices across the country.
