KOHIMA, DECEMBER 19 (MExN): As part of India’s nationwide initiative to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) by 2025, Dr Trupti Shinde, the Central Observer, visited the 100-Day Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination (Ni-Kshay Shivir) at the Rusoma Health & Wellness Centre (HWC) on December 19.

The campaign, launched on December 7, 2024, by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, at Seikhazou, D. Khel Ground Kohima, is aimed at accelerating TB elimination efforts ahead of the global target set by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. With Nagaland reporting 4,229 TB cases in 2023 and 3,018 new cases identified this year, the initiative seeks to strengthen early detection, treatment, and nutritional support for TB patients across the state.

Dr Shinde’s visit to Rusoma HWC is part of the ongoing effort to bolster awareness, reduce stigma, and mobilize communities to take an active role in the fight against TB. She was accompanied by Anoop Khinchi, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, Dr Vezokholu Theyo, State Program Officer (NTEP), Consultant (WHO), State NTEP officials, CMO Kohima Dr Leamnyei Konyak, DTO Dr Chiben, and DPM Avikali.

The campaign continues to focus on combating stigma surrounding TB, increasing public awareness, and ensuring that patients receive the comprehensive care and support they need for successful treatment outcomes.
