11 more COVID-19 cases reported in Meghalaya, tally 1,204

Shillong, August 14 (PTI): Eleven more people, including four BSF personnel, tested positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya on Friday, raising the state''s tally to 1,204, an official said.

Of the fresh cases, 10 were reported from East Khasi Hills and one from South West Garo Hills district, Health Services Director Aman War said.

"The four Border Security Force personnel from East Khasi Hills are among the new coronavirus patients," he said, adding that 27 were discharged from hospitals across the state on Thursday, he said

Meghalaya currently has 624 active cases, while 574 people have recovered from the disease and six died.

East Khasi Hills district, of which state capital Shillong is a part, has the maximum number of active cases at 422, followed by Ri Bhoi at 83, West Garo Hills at 82 and West Jaintia Hills at 16, he said.

"Of the active cases in East Khasi, 160 are security personnel," War said.

A total of 42,706 samples have been tested for COVID- 19 till Thursday, he added.
