11th Nagaland Shooting Championships concludes

31 qualify for NE Zone meet

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The 11th Nagaland Shooting Championships 2026 concluded successfully at the Aries Sports Complex Shooting Ranges, Bamunpukhuri-I, Dimapur, with 31 shooters qualifying to represent the state at the upcoming 13th North East Zone Shooting Championships.

Organised by the Aries Rifle and Pistol Shooting Academy (ARAPSA) and the Khelo India Centre, and conducted by the Nagaland Rifle Association (NRA), the four-day championship was held from July 27 to 30.

According to a press release issued by NRA President Kimatsung Jamir, a total of 66 shooters—15 women and 51 men—competed across 36 rifle and pistol events, reflecting the growing popularity of the sport in Nagaland.

ARAPSA emerged as the overall champion, securing 40 medals. Ladybird School Shooting Academy finished second with 16 medals, while Kohima District Shooting Association claimed 10 medals.

Sungratsu Shooting Association won five medals, and Peren District Shooting Association secured one medal.

The release informed that 31 shooters earned qualification to represent Nagaland at the 13th North East Zone Shooting Championships, scheduled to be held in Guwahati, Assam, from August 25 to 30.

The championship was conducted under the technical supervision of qualified officials of the Nagaland Rifle Association and served as a platform for athletes to qualify for higher-level competitions while promoting shooting sports in the state.

The organisers expressed appreciation to the participating teams, athletes, technical officials, volunteers, parents and supporters for contributing to the successful conduct of the championship. They also conveyed their best wishes to the shooters selected to represent Nagaland at the North East Zone Championships.
