HSLC & HSSLC Compartmental Examinations Results 2024

Kohima, July 17 (MExN): A total of 1225 candidates out of 3006 cleared the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Compartmental Examinations conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) in June.

This represents a pass percentage of 40.75%, stated the Board today, declaring the provisional results of the HSLC and HSSLC Compartmental and Improvement Examinations 2024 held from June 11-21.

In the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC), 492 out of 1227 candidates appearing in the Arts stream passed the exams, resulting in a pass percentage of 40.10%. In the Commerce stream, 62 candidates appeared and 27 passed, indicating a 43.55% pass percentage. The pass percentage in the Science stream was 31.16%, with 129 candidates passing the examination out of 414 candidates appearing.

Meanwhile, in the Class X improvement examination, 81 candidates appeared and 74 qualified, with a pass percentage of 91.36%.

In the HSSLC improvement examination, under the Arts stream, 8 candidates appeared and 5 passed, with a pass percentage of 62.50%. Under the Science stream, 69 candidates appeared and 57 passed, with a pass percentage of 82.61% in the Improvement Examination.

As per the NBSE, the National Credit Framework (NCrF) as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 stressed the adoption of a Credit Transfer Policy at various stages of education. Accordingly, the Board lowered the eligibility criteria for the HSLC and HSSLC Compartmental Examination and Improvement of Performance from three to four subjects from this year. In other words, a candidate who failed in four or fewer subjects in the HSLC and HSSLC Main Examinations 2024 is allowed to sit for the Compartmental Examination.

Eligible Compartmental candidates are given two chances to clear the Needs Improvement/failed subjects. Further, students wishing to improve their performance in the main HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2024 were allowed to appear in the Improvement Examination in four or fewer subjects.

Candidates who qualified in the HSLC Examination but secured Needs Improvement in one subject are also given the opportunity to reappear in the Needs Improvement subject at the immediate examination so that they can apply for courses, fulfil certain recruitment criteria, and employment where they need to pass in all the subjects they have opted for, the NBSE stated.

This initiative was undertaken in the greater interest of the students to clear their failed subject(s) as well as for students to improve their performance, it added.

Meanwhile, the NBSE informed that documents for the Centre Superintendents will be issued from July 18.
