1244 migrants leave for Bihar on special train

Nagaland government sponsors travel expenses
 

Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): A Shramik special train carrying about 1244 stranded citizens from Bihar left Dimapur Railway Station at around 9:00 pm on Saturday. 


The Government of Nagaland sponsored the transportation for the migrant workers who will be travelling to Bapudhan Motihari (East Champaran), in Bihar, the DIPR informed.


According to the DIPR report, the District Administration led by Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Anoop Kinchi, ADC Lovitoly Sema, Dimapur Commissioner of Police Rothihu Tetseo and a host of other officials “came to see them off and bade goodbye as they departed for their destination.”


It was reported that 15 buses from Kohima with 339 migrant workers arrived at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur, on around 3 pm while another 5 buses from Mokokchung ferried 158 of them at the same venue. Thermal screening was conducted by the medical personnel while officials from the District Administration verified their documents and issued train tickets, the report stated.


Meanwhile, Manoj Kumar Paswan, an autorickshaw driver who has been in Nagaland for more than 15 years, is said to have expressed gratitude and appreciated the people of Nagaland for taking care of them all these years. Paswan specially thanked the Government of Nagaland for bearing all the journey expenses in transporting them to Bihar and expressed willingness to come back to Nagaland once lockdown is completely lifted and situation becomes normal, the DIPR report stated.


Before departure, all of them were given food packets and bottles of water at the Railway station, it added.
