173 Bn CRPF organises football tournament

Dimapur, November 5 (MExN): The 173 Bn CRPF in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India organised a ‘Hornbill’ football tournament at Sammogooting stadium, Chumoukedima, on Monday.
In a press release received here, it stated that the tournament was organised under the aegis of IG Manipur and Nagaland sector.

The DIG (Ops) CRPF Kohima, Rajesh Kumar, speaking as the chief guest, applauded the footballers for their display of skills and discipline and encouraged them to work harder in order to succeed in life.

At the same time, Kumar presented the medals to all the players with trophies along with a cash prizes of Rs 15,000 to the School of Football, Nagaland, and Rs 10,000  to the runner-up team (Whack Club) along with other trophies. 

Furthermore, he appreciated the efforts put in by 173 Bn CRPF in making the event a grand success.

It stated that the School of Football, Nagaland, won the tournament with a lone (1-0) goal scored by Pongwang in the first half of the match.

At the same time, it stated that Hangninlo of Whack Club won the Golden Boot while Horlan of School of Football won the Golden Gloves and Ponwang of School of Football won the Player of the Match. 

It further stated that the closing ceremony was also attended by Devnath Somkunwar, Commandant 78 Bn CRPF, S K Vasisth, 2i/c, Sanjeev Kumar, 2i/c,. Heiyilung Nsarangbe, DC, Ambar Ghosh, DC, Tutu Kachari, DC, Dr L Nuh, SMO and other Unit Officers.  

Narayan Balai, officiating commandant of 173 Bn CRPF, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the guests, players who participated in the tournament, the district administration of Chumoukedima, Sports Authority of India, all officers, SOs and Ors of the Battalion who put in a lot of efforts and played an important role in making this event a grand success.
