DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): The 173 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Dimapur, will organise a half marathon on October 28 under the “SPANDAN – Sports for Peace and Development Across Nation” initiative, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
The event will be held at the State Agri Expo, 4th Mile, Chümoukedima, which will serve as the starting and finishing point. The marathon will be flagged off at 5:30 am.
The event aims to promote fitness, sportsmanship, peace, unity and community participation through sports, particularly among the youth, 173 Bn CRPF informed in a press release.
There will be two categories:21 km for men and 5 km for women, with participation open those aged 18 years and above.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 finishers in both categories, with the first, second and third positions carrying Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Cash prizes ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 will be awarded to the remaining positions.
Carrying the message “Run for Peace, Run for a Better Future”, the event is open to college students, youth clubs, sportspersons, fitness enthusiasts and the general public. Free T-shirts and refreshments will be provided to registered participants, the paramilitary force said.
Registration is free and currently open through an online form or QR code provided in the publicity material. The 173 Battalion CRPF has invited people from across Nagaland to participate in the event.
