18th Nagaland State Chess Championship concludes

The 18th Nagaland State Chess Championship 2021 under the aegis of Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) concluded today at The Heritage, Kohima.

Neiba Kronu, Minister of Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue, & Parliamentary Affairs and also President of NCA gave away prizes to the winners at the valedictory function.

The champion in open category was awarded with Rs. 50,000 while second, third and fourth place winners received Rs. 30,000, Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively. Rank 5 to 10 holders also received Rs. 5000 each.

The winners in the Under 18 and Under 14 categories were also awarded with Rs. 10,000 (1st), Rs. 7,000 (2nd), Rs. 5000 (3rd), Rs 3000 (4th rank) and Rs. 2000 (5th Rank) each.

Meanwhile, the NCA stated that Kevilekho Zumvu, Mughaho Awomi, Khrielie Sano and Seyiekhrietuo Mere will represent Nagaland State at the forthcoming Senior National Chess Championship scheduled from April 13 to 20 at Nagpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Kronu will continue as NCA President for the tenure 2021-24 with other officials including Vice Presidents - Pele Khezhie and Toikhu Awomi, General Secretary- Mughaho Awomi, Joint Secretaries- Vekukho Soho, Ropfüvilie Nagi and Bovito Yeputho, Treasurer- Kiyaselie Mere and K. Sekhamo as Advisor.

1st Runner-up: Pulonito Hesso, Coraggio School Kohima
2nd Runner-up: Shurhozhalie Sabastian Solo, St. Mary Cathedral Higher Secondary School Kohima
4th Position: Kereilhulie Nagi, Minister’s Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School Kohima.
5th Position:  Manas Sharma, Hope Academy School Dimapur
