19,132.5 Ha rubber plantation area in Nagaland

The total area under rubber plantation in Nagaland stands at 19,132.5 Ha as of 2021. Currently, 4,989 Ha have been brought under tapping producing about 15, 700 MT of latex annually.

The remaining 14,100 Ha of rubber plantation have attained maturity, creating the need for approximate 6.378 numbers of rubber sheet rollers, according to Annual Administrative Report 2021-22 of Land Resources Department tabled at the recently concluded 11th session of 13th Nagaland legislative Assembly (NLA).

The report stated that more focus is being given to post harvest management through support from various agencies like negotiated loan under NABARD and NEC under post COVID-19 economic recovery plans.

Under NEC and NABARD schemes, a total of 524 number of rubber sheet rollers were distributed to support production of rubber in about 1,500 Ha of matured plantation clusters in the rubber growing districts.

It has also generated direct and indirect economic activities of about 1,500 households in the state.

Under NABARD, RIDF-XXIV, the department has provided 289 number of rubber sheet rollers to rubber growers in Dimapur, Peren, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Longleng and Mon districts.

Under NEC, post- COVID-19 economic recovery plan, the department distributed 235 numbers of rubber sheet rollers in the state during the year, the report added.
