Dimapur, February 6 (MExN): Apropos to news that appeared in some local dailies on February 5, 2010 regarding ‘some Congressmen’ joining the NPF party, the 19th Phek Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) clarifies the misleading claims. A press note issued by Huvosa S. Venuh, president and Murhaveyi Khesoh, 19th Phek ACCC, stated that dual membership in Congress was abolished and there’s no such active or primary membership, and members willing to join the congress part are enrolled as eligible and non-eligible members. Only eligible members are allowed to become office bearers.
The note also clarified that Khoveto Chizo is not the president of Phek Village Unit Congress, and was the president of Phek Village Youth Congress in the last tenure and not in the present setup. Also, Savenieyi Keyho was elected as the president during the last organizational election in June, 2010. “The question of Vepatsuyi Soho and Veto Soho resigning as vice presidents of Phek Village Youth Congress respectively does not arise because the frontal organizations are yet to be constituted at all levels after the new enrollment.,” the note said.
The note also claims that Shevozo Soho was expelled from the party in 2010 for his anti-party activities which compelled him to join the NPF, and that Vekuto Chizo was the general secretary of Phek Village Unit Congress Committee in the last tenure and not in the present tenure. “Thupuniezo S. Venuh must be a self-styled secretary because no such secretary exists in Unit Office bearers’ record. Among those mentioned as active and primary members, three of them are government employees. It is against their service conducts rules for government employees to enroll themselves as political party members. 50% of those so-called primary members had not even enrolled themselves as Congress members as per record” the note said.
“In a democratic country, any eligible voter has the right to join the political party of his choice, however, to join another political party for cheap publicity with fabricated designation and taking the name of the political party to which he is not affiliated tantamount to defamation deserving condemnation in strongest terms. Lastly, it is to be clarified that none of them had submitted their resignation letter. Therefore, their selfish act was a pure act was a pure case of defection and snit-party activity,” the note stated.
