1st Inter-College Badminton Tournament underway in Kohima

A two day long 1st Inter-College Badminton Tournament organised by College of Arts & Technology (CAT) Nerhe- Phezha, Kohima commenced today at Indoor Badminton Stadium, Officer’s Hill, Kohima.
With the theme “Challenge the Champion in You,” the tournament was formally inaugurated by Col. Rohit Jakhar, Commandant 45th Assam Rifles, Chieswema Battalion.

Gracing the opening ceremony as the special guest, Col. Jakhar commended the tournament as a good beginning and wanted the same to grow from strength to strength with every passing year.

32 players from Alder College Kohima, Fazl Ali College Mokokchung, Kros College, Kohima, Kohima College, Kohima, IGNOU Mokokchung, IGNOU Dimapur, Unity College Dimapur, Don Bosco College Kohima, College of Arts & Technology, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, Sazolie College Jotsoma and Modern College Piphema registered for this tournament.

Earlier, CAT principal Dr. Chingpai Lily delivered welcome address while Thingpio N. Lam, Associate Pastor (Women), Khiamniungan Baptist Church, Kohima invoked God’s blessings.

The inaugural function was compered by Dziesekhonuo Mere, Assistant Professor CAT while special number was presented by Pepauramyile.

T. Imtisungit Ao, Badminton coach from Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland will assist the tourney as the chief referee.
Meanwhile, semi final matches will start from 10:00 AM onwards on April 6.
The grand finale will take place at 2:00 PM.
