SHAMATOR, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): The inaugural edition of the Lt. Toshi Wungtong Memorial Football Tournament began on October 10 in Shamator town as the second zonal tournament. The first zonal tournament was held at Chessore town, where Kuthuru Village emerged as the winner under the Chessore Zone.
Solumba Yimkhiung, former president of Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) and Vice-President of Shamator District Football Association (SDFA), urged players to recognise the importance of football and highlighted that all tournaments in the district must obtain prior approval from the respective district football association. He also advised players to register in the CRS as per AIFF/NFA regulations and encouraged team spirit, discipline, and dedication both on and off the field.
