A felicitation programme for students who completed an Adult Literacy Class was held on March 14 at the Community Hall in Yanthamo village under Chukitong RD Block in Wokha district.

The programme was organised under the NSRLM PRI–CBO Convergence Project in collaboration with the District Administration, Department of Social Welfare, and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) under Mission Shakti (BBBP).

The adult literacy initiative was conducted by Zukhumki Federation (CLF) under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), BMMU Chukitong RD Block, following a demand raised by the Village Level Organisation (VLO) to promote literacy among adult members in the community.

The three-month course aimed to equip learners with basic reading, writing and numeracy skills. Altogether, 23 students successfully completed the programme and were awarded certificates during the felicitation event.

Through the literacy classes, the participants learned alphabets, basic numeracy, and how to write their own signatures, enabling them to carry out everyday tasks with greater confidence and independence.

One of the highlights of the programme was the participation of 82-year-old Lopyoni Ngullie, the oldest student among the learners. Her determination and enthusiasm to learn served as an inspiring reminder that education has no age barrier.
