230 recruits including seven Mahila recruits participated in the ceremonial attestation parade conducted at the parade ground of the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC & S) at Shokhuvi on May 17.

Dimapur, May 17 (MExN): A ceremonial attestation parade was conducted at the parade ground of the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC & S) at Shokhuvi on May 17.
An update received here stated that the parade was led by Assistant Commandant M Kennedy Maring, an officer who is posted as Training Officer at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School. Altogether, 230 recruits including seven Mahila recruits participated in the attestation parade of the Force. The ceremony marked the culmination of 44 weeks of rigorous recruit training, it stated.
The attestation parade was reviewed by Brigadier Raman Sharma, Sena Medal, Commandant, Assam Rifles Training Centre and School.
The occasion was also graced by Colonel Himanshu Rawat, Vishisht Seva Medal, Additional Deputy Inspector General & Chief Instructor, Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, senior Officers of the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles, parents and guardians of the recruits.
Addressing the recruits, the Reviewing Officer highlighted the rich history and legacy of Assam Rifles as the oldest paramilitary force of the country. He mentioned that Assam Rifles is responsible for border security, Counter Insurgency and maintaining law and order in North East India. He emphasised on the huge responsibility now being bestowed upon the shoulders of newly attested recruits as the sentinels of the North East.
He also stressed upon the importance of discipline and physical fitness in a soldier’s life. He exuded confidence in the training conducted at the Training Centre which he expressed would stand the young soldiers in good stead before wishing them the very best in their future assignments. In the end, he congratulated them and their proud parents on successful completion of their training and wished them success and happiness in all their future endeavours.
The newly passed out soldiers as they took the Oath of Affirmation to serve the nation selflessly will now join their respective units in all frontline duties thereby making it a moment of glory not only for the Assam Rifles but also for the entire nation.
After the parade, the Reviewing Officer personally met the award winners, overall Best Recruit (General Duty) Ungchipem Jajo, Best in Firing Recruit (General Duty) Gaurav Basera, Best in Physical Standards Recruit (General Duty) Michael Rimei and Best in Drill Recruit (General Duty) Worchan Jajo.
