Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The personnel of 24 Assam Rifles while conducting MVCP at Green Park area on June 14 at around 10:45 am, arrested one over possession of illegal arms.
The accused has been identified as ‘ss 2nd lt’ Kehoi Achumi, S/o Vuxushe Achumi of Kehekhu village under Kuhuboto subdivision of “NSCN-K”. He had in his possession one AK-47 with magazines and 21 live rounds of ammunitions. A case has been registered under Dimapur East PS, informed the additional superintendent of police, Dimapur in a press note.
In another incident, three people were arrested for extortion on June 14. On June 14, at around 3:00 pm Dimapur police apprehended two persons from Church Road for illegally collecting money from the shopkeepers in the name of NSCN-IM.
Four nos. of information slip, list of shops for money to be collected and some amount of collected money were recovered from their possession.
The accused were identified as Elias T Lotha S/o Tsumongo of Pangtong village, Bhandari, Wokha, presently residing in DC Court area, Dimapur, who is serving as a ‘sectional officer of NSCN-IM' and Chumdemo S/o Ekyimo of Lotsu village, presently residing at Sewak Colony, Dimapur . A case has been registered in this connection.
Further, on the same day at around 5:30 pm, Dimapur police apprehended one person who was randomly collecting money from the shopkeepers at Church Road area, Dimapur.
The accused was identified as Vitoshe, S/o Pitovi of Tokishe village, Niuland, presently residing in Tolouzama. On interrogation, the accused revealed that he collected money on behalf of "NSCN-K" daily. Some amount of money were seized from his possession. Also, a case has been filed at Dimapur East PS in regard to this.
