DIMAPUR, MAY 19 (MExN): Increasing its tally of COVID-19 cases, Nagaland reported 244 new cases on May 19.
As per the State health department’s bulletin, 124 out of the new cases on Wednesday were detected from self test or random test while 103 were traced contacts, 8 were armed personnel/security forces, 7 frontline workers and 2 returnees/travellers.
115 of the new cases were reported from Dimapur, 88 from Kohima, 12 each from Mokokchung and Zunheboto, 5 each from Longleng and Wokha, 3 from Mon, 2 from Peren and 1 each from Kiphire and Phek.
Meanwhile, 215 new recoveries were also reported on May 19, which include 152 from Dimapur, 47 from Kohima, 6 from Mokokchung, 4 from Phek, 3 from Zunheboto and 1 each from Kiphire, Peren and Tuensang.
The total caseload of the State is now 18,958. A total of 13,706 patients have recovered from the infection and there are now 4,426 active cases. 3808 patients are currently under home isolation while 271 are admitted in COVID-19 hospitals, as per the bulletin.
The number of deaths due to the virus increased to 223 on Wednesday as against 217 on May 18, indicating an addition of 6 more deaths in a span of 24 hours.
