25th Hornbill Festival 2024: Four Days to Go

Gareth Bonello to perform at Toyota Hornbill Music Festival

Gareth Bonello from Wales will be performing at the upcoming Toyota Hornbill Music Festival 2024 at the main arena, Naga Heritage village, Kisama.

Brought by Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), Toyota Hornbill Music Festival is India’s biggest music festival.

Gareth Bonello, is a celebrated Welsh folk musician, singer-songwriter, and cultural ambassador.

Known for his emotive storytelling and masterful blend of traditional and contemporary music, Bonello will bring the lyrical landscapes of Wales to the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama, as Wales participates as a partner country in this landmark edition.

A captivating solo performer, Bonello has toured globally, playing prestigious venues from the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, DC, to the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing.

Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio remarked “We are honored to welcome Gareth Bonello to the Hornbill Festival. His music is a powerful reminder of how art transcends borders and brings people together.”

Hornbill Esports Championship 2024
The Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland in collaboration with LVL UP Consultancy is presenting Hornbill Esports Championship 2024 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima on December 6–7 as part of 25th Hornbill Festival 2024.

The department informed the youth and school children to witness this esports festival. The Hornbill Esports Championship will feature globally popular games such as Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Dota 2 and FC24 (FIFA).

This time round of Season -1, the Championship is open only for the youth of the north eastern states.

Additionally, Cosplay Competition will be held, where participants can showcase their creativity by embodying their favorite gaming or pop culture characters.

Artist corner
The Department of Art and Culture in collaboration with a local gallery will organize Artists’ Corner at the WW II Museum premises Kisama, coinciding with the Hornbill Festival.

This project is primarily to promote local artist where many visual art activity are intended by way of showing cum art fair as by transaction. Alongside some art exhibition program shall also be on display which is for by and of artist.

Interested local artists are requested to submit 2 works only at the Directorate of Art & Culture along with label and bio-data during office hours latest by November 28.

3rd Hornbill Open Benchrest Air Rifle shooting competition
The 3rd Hornbill Open Benchrest Air Rifle shooting competition ‘Shoot to Preserve’ organised by the Tati Group Enterprise will be held on December 3 at Tuophema Basa Ground. Informing this in a press release, Vizha Sanchu said there will be an open category, .177 category and .177 Indian Pop category with an entry fee of Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 1500 respectively. He further informed that the Precihol Company, Maharashtra, top air gun manufacturer in India will be displaying their products during the competition. The event will also witness, bonfire, karaoke, music and entertainment with various artistes.
