Chümoukedima, April 11 (MExN): The Under-20 boys’ football trials for Nagaland were held at Chümoukedima Football Stadium on Saturday, organised by the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) in preparation for the forthcoming Swami Vivekananda U-20 Men’s National Football Championship.
The national championship is scheduled to be held at Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, from May 2 to May 24.
A total of 264 young players from across Nagaland participated in the trials, showcasing their talent and competing for selection. Following the trials, the first phase of the selection process was completed.
Nagaland Football Association Joint Secretary L Shahoto Yimchunger addressed the players before the commencement of the first phase, encouraging them to perform with consistency and commitment. He emphasised that hard work, dedication and discipline can surpass talent, urging the participants to remain focused on their goals.
He also encouraged those who were not selected not to give up on their dreams but to continue pursuing football with determination and perseverance.
Addressing the shortlisted players, Yimchunger urged them to be sincere and make the most of the guidance provided by coaches, noting that they would have the responsibility of representing the state in the national championship.
