29th LMT: Freezing ousted; Nyenshen enters final

Two times champion Nyenshen FC will once again defend their title in the ongoing 29th Loyem Memorial Trophy organized by the Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU) after defeating Freezing FC in the 1st semi-final at Parade Ground, Tuensang on 19th November.

It was Nyenshen’s show once again who went dancing into the final after trouncing the newcomers by 4 goals to nil.

With more than 80% ball possession Freezing players could only hope for the final whistle to blown soon. It was a match-up that many expected to be an exciting one. The ground was filled with fans and loud cheering however Freezing players could only continue to watch their goalkeeper collect the ball from his goal four times.

However, the newcomers cannot be written off as weak opponent as they continued to fight back even after they were reduced to 10 men when Pafa (13) was sent off in the 63rd minute after receiving his second yellow card. 

Mustafi Tagoe (16) has 6 goals to his name in the tournament after scoring two goals through penalty in the 18th and 63rd minutes. He was relishing the moment as he called his teammates to the corner to dance along with him in the celebration.

Nyithung (7) scored a wonder kick outside the box to extend the lead 3-0 in the 70th minute and the final nail in the coffin was completed after Vinoka (11) scored another long attempt in the 86th minute.

Winner of 2018 and 2019 LMT, Nyenshen FC will face the winner of 2nd semi-final match to be played between Shanen FC and Mülan FC on Saturday.

Match officials were referee Nungsang, 1st assistant T Chuba, 2nd assistant T Shellim and 4th official N Chuba. Benie Lamthiu, Nagaland Football Association, general secretary was the match patron.
