29th LMT: N-MUSC exits, R&H beats Mevie FC

Tuensang, November 15 (MExN): In the ongoing Loyem Memorial Trophy organized by Confederation of Chang Students’ Union at Parade Ground, Tuensang on 15th November debutants N-MUSC was knocked out of the tournament after they were defeated by Freezing FC 3-0. In another match Mevie FC also saw their campaign coming to an end with 1 lose and 1 draw in their group. 

N-MUSC in their first outing against Mülan lost 2-1 and going into this match, they needed to secure 3 points to stay in the competition. However the players of Freezing FC Saksi were dominant in all the department on the field, capitalizing on the mistakes of the Tuensang red devils.

The first breakthrough came in the 12th minute from the boots of Bichemba (9) for the Freezers and few minutes before the half time united players found their rhythm and began attacking but was thwarted by the shrewd defending of the players in the orange jersey. United came close once in the dying minutes of the first half but the shot hit the cross bar. At halftime the score remained 1-0 in favor of Freezing FC.

After the break, the attackers of Freezing FC picked up from where they left and soon started with barrages of attacks and was rewarded with a goal in the 39th minute scored by Ayen Chang (7). The middle of the park for N-MUSC was frozen by the midfielders of Freezing FC as they lobbed ball after ball inside their opponent’s box and the united players put brakes on their attack to defend. Occasional attacks of the reds were well defended and most of it were off target attempts. 

The match was sealed with the second goal for Ayen Chang (7) in the 50th minute, the score reading 3-0 for Freezing FC. The match officials were referee Nungsang, 1st assistant L Chaba, 2nd assistant P Chillio and 4th official T Chuba.

Earlier, Mevie FC with a draw went into their match looking to get a win against Reli & Heli FC. Mevie players controlled most of the early session of the game and scored in the 8th minute through Langshei (3). The ball possession was more for Mevie which made the R&H players to sit back and kept on attacking. However, in the 27th minute from a counter attack Jonny Ritse (4) equaled the score and the match went into half time at 1-1.

With as many as 4 substitutions later, the match turned in favor of R&H and the attack was more lethal from their players. In the 47th minute, they found their lead after Yaong Somba (15) slotted home the goal. R&H FC won the match and they will take on the defending champion Nyenshen FC in the first quarter-final on Wednesday.

The match officials were referee T Shilem, 1st assistant N Chuba, 2nd assistant M Aollen and 4th official M. Jongshi.
