2nd Nagaland Cross Country Championships on December 18

Dimapur, December 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) will organise the 2nd Nagaland Cross Country Championships 2025 on December 18 at Ruovi’s The Palm, Model Village, 5th Mile, Chümoukedima. 

The event aims to promote long-distance running, identify emerging talent and shortlist athletes to represent Nagaland at the 60th National Cross Country Championships 2026, the NAA informed in a release.

The Championships will be held in Men, Women, U-20, U-18 and U-16 categories for both boys and girls. 

Race distances include 10 km for Men and Women; 8 km and 6 km for U-20 boys and girls respectively; 6 km and 4 km for U-18 boys and girls; and 2 km each for U-16 boys and girls.

Entries are to be submitted online, with the last date for submission set for December 12. The entry fee has been fixed at Rs 300 for senior athletes and Rs 200 for junior athletes.

The NAA informed that eligibility will be determined as per Athletics Federation of India (AFI) rules, with the age reckoning date set at January 24, 2026. Athletes must compete only in their respective age groups and must be registered under AFI. AFI-UID and Aadhaar will be mandatory for age verification. Entries for athletes below 14 years as on January 24, 2026 will not be accepted.

Age brackets for the junior categories are as follows: U-20: Born between January 25, 2006 and January 24, 2008;  U-18: Born between January 25, 2008 and January 24, 2010; and U-16: Born between January 25, 2010 and January 24, 2012/

Participants are required to arrange their own accommodation and meals. Verification of documents and issuance of bibs will be conducted on December 17 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the venue, the release said, 

Meanwhile, the NAA informed that participation at the event is voluntary and at the sole risk of the athletes, adding that he organisers will not be responsible for any loss, damage, illness or injury arising from participation.
