Wokha, December 9 (MExN): The second edition of Winter Open Airgun Shooting Competition organised by Airgun Sporting Association of Nagaland (ASAN) was flagged off by Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Wokha as special guest on December 9.
The competition is now incorporated as part of Hornbill Festival, supported by the Department of Tourism, Nagaland, stated an update received here.
Altogether 38 participants have registered in the competition. Lone female shorter Tsemenue participated in the open marksman competition.
Neizo Belho emerged as the champion with Mhaden Ngullie and Ashamo Ezung as the first and second runner-up respectively.
In a short inaugural programme held at Likya Community Hall, DC Wokha appealed the ASAN to spread awareness to the youths through the shooting competition and channel the enthusiasm to sports rather than shooting in nature.
Ajamo Odyuo president, ASAN in his welcome address stated that the main objective of organising the annual event is to promote shooting as sports in all the districts in Nagaland. He added that ASAN was formed with members from different district having same vision to promote and provide platforms to the talented shooting enthusiast in the State.
