Three persons were killed in a shooting suspected to be connected to land dispute in Peren district on March 22. As per reports, the victims were fired upon by a group of unidentified armed assailants, while clearing jungle, in a place reported to be Lamhainamdi. As per the police in Peren, the shooting happened sometime between 3:00-4:00 pm in a disputed belt of the Dimapur-Peren district boundary. The actual place of the shooting was still to be established, however. At time of filing this report, the police confirmed the recovery of three dead bodies at the place of incident, while stating that the bodies were being transported to Jalukie. More details were awaited.
