NEAN postpones protest for 10 days

DIMAPUR, MARCH 5 (MExN): The National Health Mission Employees Association (NEAN) has postponed its total cease work protest which was scheduled to begin from March 6. This decision was taken during a meeting on March 5 at Kohima, wherein it was decided to postpone the protest for 10 more days.

“The call has been taken purely on humanitarian ground; in order not to affect the health service delivery, for the larger interest of the community/public, considering the Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic issue. Whereby, all the NHM Health Workers are actively involved in the screening and prevention activities, currently,” a press release from the NEAN President, Dr Shasinlo Mogh and General Secretary, Kewetso Kenye stated.

It may be noted that the protest was called demanding the release of 3 months worth of salaries. The association however cautioned that if the government still fails to meet the demand/grievance within 10 days, the NEAN would go ahead with the protest without any further information.
