30 coaches in 11 disciplines in Nagaland: AAR

The Department of Youth Resources & Sports has 30 coaches in 11 disciplines and 8 Physical Instructor of School.

According to the Annual Administrative Report 2025-26 of the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, tabled in the 8th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), the Department has 10 topmost priority disciplines where special emphasis is laid on Football, Archery, Taekwondo, Sepaktakraw, Boxing, Wrestling, Athletics, Badminton, Table Tennis and Cricket.

The Department has 22 (Twenty two) Associations affiliated to the Nagaland Olympics Association namely Volleyball Association, Archery Association, Hockey Association, Rifle Association, Tennis Association, Chess Association, Sepaktakraw Association, Kho Kho Association, Boxing Association, Taekwondo Association, Table Tennis Association, Karate Association, Weightlifting Association, Wrestling Association, Football Association, Badminton Association, Handball Association, Athletic Association, Wushu Association, Muaythai Association, Fencing Association and Basketball Association.

The Department maintains close coordination with developing associations like the Pencak Silat Association, ESports Association of Nagaland, Pickleball Association, and similar bodies.

The Department has two Sports Academies namely, Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS), located at Kohima and the State Sports Academy located at Dimapur. These academies host students of six Olympic disciplines. At present there are 211 students enrolled in these academies, the report stated.
