Yahok’s late double stuns Yungyangkhu FC; Oilek FC storm to victory
Tuensang, October 31 (MExN): It was heartbreak and euphoria rolled into one at the fog-covered Loyem Memorial Astro Turf as Matchday 4 of the 33rd Loyem Memorial Trophy unfolded on Friday — a day that will be remembered for Yahok’s late heroics and Oilek’s commanding win.
In the first match, Yungyangkhu FC seemed set to finally secure their first win after a difficult start to the tournament. Ented’s 44th-minute strike gave them the lead, and they threw everything into holding it. Every tackle and clearance was a battle to the end.
But football has a way of turning on its head. With the clock running out, Auyang’s Yahok found the equaliser, sending his teammates and fans into a frenzy that cut through the thick evening fog. Seconds later, he did it again — slotting home the winner with what was virtually the last kick of the match. The comeback stunned Yungyangkhu, whose players sank to the turf as their hopes of progressing began to fade, while Auyang’s supporters kept chanting Yahok’s name long after the whistle.
If the first game was heartbreak and drama, the second was all control. Oilek FC cruised past Tüjünu United FC 3–0, with Hanglen opening the scoring in the 9th minute. Sangle Mongba doubled the lead in the 23rd and sealed it with his second in the 70th.
It was a one-sided affair — Oilek looked sharp and assured while Tüjünu never quite settled, slipping to their second straight defeat. Oilek, meanwhile, move ahead in their group with a win and a draw.
Saturday’s fixtures will see Shanen FC face Legit FC at 12:30 p.m., followed by SP XI taking on United Comets FC at 2:30 p.m.
