Dimapur, November 14 (MExN): The 35th edition of Ato Area Sports Association hosted by Loyir Village (New Showuba) concluded on November 13.

President of Western Sumi Sports Association, Vikuto Zhimo graced the closing ceremony of week-long event that was held under the theme ‘unity through sports’ as guest of honour and gave away the trophies besides lowering the association flag and marking the end of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, guest of honour was of the view there is no dearth of talent amongst the youngsters who can bring name and fame for Nagaland state and called upon the society to collaborate with the government agencies to nurture and promote young talents of the state in the field of games and sports.

The WSSA President also encouraged the sportspersons to have utmost discipline and commitment if they want to be successful.

Kaviho Yeptho, Advisor AASA acknowledged the presence of dignitaries gracing the closing ceremony and Vito Z Sumi, president, AASA proposed vote of thanks. 

Pastor of Loyir Baptist Church, Kiujim Yimchunger pronounced the benediction while Sheyipu Zhimo, head GB Hozukhe village welcomed to host association’s next annual event in Hozukhe village.

Hozukhe village team lifted the GBs’ Trophy (Football) defeating Toshiho village team in the final. Along with champion and runner-up, two semifinalists Loyir and S Hetoyi were also awarded cash prizes.   Akum of S Hetoyi team won highest scorer award for his personal tally of 10 goals.

Best player award was bagged by Kakishe of Hozukhe team while best defender and best goalkeeper award went to Tokato and Kiyeka  of Toshiho team.

Women’s champion Loyir A team and runner-up Khehoi team. Best player, Ikali A Awomi of Loyir.
Nikhekhu village team was awarded the best disciplined team of the meet.
