Dimapur, December 6 (MExN): Thirty eight kindergarten students of Hope Academy Dimapur graduated today. Standing tall in their red gowns and square academic caps the 38 graduating students sang a farewell song during the 3rd Kindergarten Graduation cum parents’ Day programme held at IMC Hall Dimapur.
Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur N Hushili Sema, IAS who was the chief guest handed out the graduation certificates to the students.
With Christmas just around the corner, the children performed several items related to Christmas. There were confused lambs, inseparable shepherds, grumpy elf, adorable angels, some reindeers with broken antler, shimmery Christmas trees and energetic little Santas with pom poms.
Addressing the gathering, Hushili lauded the teachers and said they have done a beautiful and fantastic job and that they have not only imparted academic learning but also built confidence in all the children.
Encouraging the parents present, she said: “We think it is the duty of teachers to mould our children but it is a partnership between the teachers and parents to mould our children.”
She said that parents are role models for children and that parents need to be very careful in what they say or do when children are around.
Hushili also said that most of the time parents neglect their children because of work and stress. “Leave aside your tiredness and give time to your child.”
On aspects of commercializing Christmas, she advised the parents to instill the real meaning of Christmas - sharing with others and spreading love. “Giving them presents would enthrall them only for a moment.”
