The 3rd edition of the Nagaland Inter Open Volleyball Tournament 2026 organised by the Kezo Town Baptist Khriesarüü Krotho (KTBKK) kicked off at Kezo Town local ground on January 13.

Held under the theme “Uplifting lives through sports” the inaugural programme of the two-day was graced by the President of the Angami Women Organisation (AWO), Neithono R Sothu.

Emphasising on the power of self-belief and resilience, particularly among youth and sportspersons, Sothu noted that true strength does not always announce itself loudly but often reveals itself in quiet determination and in the resolve to take “one more step” even when the odds seem overwhelming.

Urging players to trust the process, Sothu said success is never accidental but the outcome of sustained hard work, perseverance, continuous learning, sacrifice, and above all, a genuine love for what one does.

Highlighting the importance of overcoming adversity, she reminded the participants that real glory lies not in never falling, but in rising each time one falls. She encouraged athletes to remain focused and mentally strong, stating that a victory mindset is built on learning as much from setbacks as from triumphs.

“We never truly lose,” she said, adding that every experience is either a win or a lesson. According to her, victories are worth celebrating not merely for the result, but for the unseen effort, discipline, and commitment that go into achieving them.

Altogether 26 team both men and women are participating in the tournament.

The valedictory programme on January 14 will be graced by Tepunol Yore, District Project Officer, Land Resources who is also the president of the Southern Angami Gazetted Officers Krotho (SAGOK).
