As part of the Consumer Awareness Campaign, the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LMCP), Tuensang, organised an essay writing competition at Sao Chang Government College on October 5, with 47 students participating.
The competition was held on the theme, “A Well-Informed and Confident Consumer is an Asset to Society.” The prize distribution ceremony was held on October 9 at the college as part of Lumina Fest 2026.
The Assistant Controller of LMCP spoke on the theme, highlighting the importance of consumer awareness, while Dr Lanurenla, Principal of the College, presented prizes to the winners.
Lamn P of the fifth semester Political Science secured the first prize followed by Kongniu C of the third semester Political Science and Yimtsula N Yim of the first semester Sociology secured the third prize.
Seven students received consolation prizes. They were B. Wongtokiu of the first semester Sociology, Tsunshila Yimchunger of the third semester Political Science, Shakshi Lepla of the third semester History, Veiniu C. of the first semester History, Rohit Dutta of the fifth semester BSc (PCM), Khunou Lam of the fifth semester English, and Sangliba T Sangtam of the fifth semester English.
The first, second and third prize winners received Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000, respectively, along with certificates.
Dr Toninaro Chongpho and Naong Chemden, Assistant Professors at Sao Chang Government College, coordinated the essay writing competition.
