DIMAPUR, JANUARY 24 (MExN): A 4.8 magnitude earthquake shook Nagaland and parts of the northeastern region late Friday, sending residents into a panic. No injuries or damage to property have been reported. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said the quake originated in Myanmar at a depth of 106 kilometers. The tremors, felt across multiple northeastern states, left residents uneasy but caused no significant disruptions. The incident comes just days after two earthquakes struck Manipur on Wednesday night. The first, a magnitude 4.3 quake, was centered in Pherzawl district, near the Mizoram and Assam borders, at a depth of 40 kilometers. Less than an hour later, a second tremor, measuring 3.3, hit Churachandpur district near the Mizoram-Myanmar border at a depth of 30 kilometers. While northeastern India lies in a seismically active zone, Friday’s quake passed without any major impact.
