4th St Joseph University Trophy commences

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): The 4th edition of the St Joseph University Trophy officially commenced on October 15 with Lipokmar Tzudir, Director of the Nagaland Conservatory of Music, gracing the opening ceremony as the special guest.

A total of 24 teams from colleges and universities across Nagaland are competing in various sporting events, which will conclude on October 18.

In his address, Tzudir drew parallels between music and sports, highlighting their shared values of discipline, perseverance, and dedication. He urged students to strive for excellence not only in sports but also in academics and life, and to work towards a more just and humane society.

He also acknowledged the significant role of Catholic educational institutions in shaping education across Nagaland and Southeast Asia.
According to an SJU release, one of the highlights of the event was a wooden dumbbell display by students of the Department of Physical Education, showcasing strength and coordination. The opening ceremony also featured flag hoisting and the National Anthem led by the SJU Music Club.

Earlier, Prof Charles Monthung Ezung, Dean of Students’ Affairs, extended greetings to the dignitaries and participating institutions. The ceremony concluded with the University Anthem performed by the SJU Music Club, along with the ceremonial torch lighting and oath-taking ceremony.
