50 years for Kohima Lotha Baptist Church

Kohima: The two-day glorious Golden Jubilee celebration of the Kohima Lotha Baptist Church concluded here this evening.
Inspiring messages, special numbers, dedication of jubilee pandal etc. marked the celebration. The celebrants recalled the formative year of the Church and renewed its vision to strengthen the Church Ministry.

Established on March 4 in the year 1956 by eight members with six households, today the Kohima Lotha Baptist Church has grown up to 2351 members having 944 households.

At present, the Church has 7 ministerial and 6 non ministerial staff. The church has expanded to six sectoral fellowships creating an opportunity for the members to worship God on every Wednesday and Saturday.

Keeping with motto “Go and Tell,” the Church with all commitment, has established a fruitful mission field at Totopara, West Bengal, one of the smallest tribes in the world with a population of approximately 1200.

At present there are seven workers with more than 100 baptized members in two established churches and fellowship. The Church also has missionary at large on the Assam-Nagaland border.

The main speakers of the two days long celebration included, Rev. Zhabu Theruja, General Secretary, Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Rev. Dr. Ezamo Murry, Vice Principal, ETC Jorhat and Rev. Dr. Ellis Murry, General secretary Supreme Task International, Dimapur.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. TM. Lotha, Parliamentary Secretary Nkhao Lotha and chairman Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship also delivered greeting messages.

On March 4 last, dedication of monolith was done by executive secretary KBES while dedication of jubilee pandal was done by Pastor Purana Bazar, Rev. C. Yanthan and dedication of jubilee theme and programme by literature secretary KBES Rev. N.T Murry. 

At the conclusion programme this evening, Rev. Thungjamo Lotha, missionary, delivered the sermon to the congregation while Parliamentary Secretary Nkhao Lotha shared greeting message. Rev. Dr. Ellis Murry exhorted the gathering while consecration was performed by Rev. Yankey Patton.
