530 students receive degrees at 4th ICFAI convocation

Chümoukedima, October 7 (MExN): A total of 530 students from three batches received their degree certificates for various levels of study during the fourth convocation of ICFAI University Nagaland (IUN), held at the university campus in Sovima on October 6. 

Speakers at the ceremony urged the graduates to embrace emerging opportunities and contribute meaningfully to society.

The graduating cohort comprised 320 undergraduate, 209 postgraduate and one PhD student from the batches of 2024, 2025 and 2026. 

A total of 46 students received gold medals, while five were awarded distinctions and one received a certificate of merit for academic excellence, informed a press release from the IUN Registrar Dr Rupanka Bhuyan.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Dr Amit Kumar Aditya described the convocation as a celebration of achievement and a transition towards new opportunities, responsibilities and challenges.

Guest of Honour Dr Damodar Reddy, Professor and Dean, ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Hyderabad, encouraged the graduates to contribute meaningfully to society. He also highlighted the vision of ICFAI founder NJ Yasaswy in expanding access to higher education, particularly in the Northeast.

A message from the Governor of Nagaland, read out by Associate Dean Dr Kevizonuo Kuolie, urged graduates to embrace lifelong learning, entrepreneurship and emerging opportunities in technology, research, tourism, agriculture and the digital economy. 

The graduates were encouraged to become job creators rather than job seekers, the release added.
