55 arrested in Zunheboto Excise raids

Zunheboto, July 31 (MExN): The Excise District Office of Zunheboto, led by Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition L. Hevito Zhimomi, conducted a series of surprise raids and Mobile Vehicle Check Posts (MVCP) duties in and around Zunheboto town during June and July 2025, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of illicit liquor and the arrest of 55 individuals.

According to a press release issued by the Superintendent of Excise, the enforcement drive led to the seizure of "800 bottles of IMFL, 120 cane beer, 10 Litres of country liquor." The raids targeted multiple illegal liquor outlets and included highway duty checks. All seized items have been deposited in the department's mal khanna (store room).

The press release stated that the operation was a part of NLTP Act enforcement and regular raids and checking will be done on regular basis. He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the department by reporting any unlawful activities related to liquor or drugs, adding, "The Superintendent of Excise, Zunheboto would also like to appeal to the public to inform the department of any illegal activities relating to liquor or Drugs so that the department can take swift action to counter its illegal use."
