6 AR creating unwanted situation in Mon: NSCN (K)

DIMAPUR, JUNE 16 (MExN): “The 6 Assam Rifles stationed at Mon District have been creating unwanted situations and have even started stealing public properties and other things belonging to the NSCN as if they are not paid by the GOI”, alleged a press note issued by the MIP Secretary NSCN (K).

The NSCN (K) cautioned that if the ongoing ceasefire is to continue, then the GOI should rein in the AR particularly the 6AR posted at Mon “otherwise the NSCN will be compelled to review the ongoing ceasefire in view of the repeated violations by the AR and other agencies of GOI under the guise of ceasefire making the CF a mockery before the international community”, the MIP note stated.

The MIP note informed that on the night of June 13, 2012, the 6 AR raided and captured about 150 quintals of rice meant for the chief of army staff besides ransacking public houses and taking public properties even to the extent of long pants and not sparing ladies mekhalas while searching the houses.

It also stated that the “shameless” 6AR personnels produced only 28 quintals of rice to the court the next day while keeping the better part of the Naga Army ration. This was termed as a “shameless act by the so called friends of the hill people who are in reality ‘enemies of the hill people’. The MIP note pointed out that the Assam Rifles were creating “warlike situation upon the otherwise peace loving people”.

“The NSCN ask the AR where are the remaining belongings including the more than 122 quintals of rice that belongs to the Naga Army and other public properties who have even stolen license guns, the MIP note stated.

The NSCN (K) wanted to know that if the AR “are not afraid of even Lord Jesus Christ they should fear their God Hanuman, Krishna or Ram whom they worship”. The NSCN (K) also wanted to know from the Ministry of Defence GOI that if they are not paying the AR, who have been resorting to stealing public properties, then where are the crores of money sanctioned every year? “Or who have authorized their bunch of desperados particularly the 6 AR stealing and harassing the innocent people due to whose acts the ceasefire is also at stake”.

“Can the ceasefire continue while the action of high handedness of the Assam Rifles remains unchecked”. Stating that the NSCN was maintaining the CFGR’s respecting the people’s desire for peace in Naga country, however it pointed out that on the other hand the AR is continuously violating the CFGRs. The MIP note wanted to know whether the GOI was responsible for all the actions of the Assam Rifles.

The NSCN (K) also informed that the same AR unit had raided Col. Apans house on 16th September last year in which they have taken Rs.44000 in cash besides 3 nos of sneaker shoes and 4 pairs of jean pants but they denied the same next day.
