8 Naga scientists for child science congress

Dimapur, October 28 (MExN): Eight child scientists have been selected to represent Nagaland state at the 18th National Children’s Science Congress 2010 to be held at Chennai, Tamil Nadu December 27-31, 2010. The 18th state-level National Children’s Science Congress was held on October 26 in Phek with a host of district officials, evaluator and guide teachers and school children attending the event.

Child scientists from all over the state participated in the event out of which eight were selected to represent the state at the 18th National Children’s Science Congress 2010 to be held at Chennai, Tamil Nadu December 27-31, 2010. The two best projects were also selected for the Indian Science Congress 2011 to be held at Chennai, Tamil Nadu January 3-7, 2011.

The selected child scientists from Nagaland to participate in the 18TH National Children’s Science Congress at Chennai in December are Kaka Lotha (16) of Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School Dimapur with her project  ‘Anthropogenic Activities on Land’; Vikesalhou (14) of Alderville School Jotsoma, with his project ‘Alder Trees Impact on Jhum Cultivation’; Leeom Watlong Yanlem (13) of Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima with her project  ‘Know the Vertical Distribution of Soil Layers of Your Locality’; Tekhele Keri (16) of Government Higher Secondary School Phek with her project ‘Losami: Community Practices on Rice Cultivation’; Kupuli T Yeptho (15) of Cornerstone School Old Zunheboto with her project ‘Study of Causes of Landslides in Alahuto Colony, Zunheboto’; Awarenla Imchen (14) of Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima with her project ‘Waste Management and Land Quality’; Krove (15) of Government Higher Secondary School Phek with his project ‘Traditional Method of Soil Conservation in Hilly Terrain’ and Linitho Swu (13) of Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima with her project ‘Changing Trend in Agricultural Land Use Pattern’

The selected child scientists from Nagaland to attend the Indian Science Congress at Chennai in January 2011 are Honli (17) of Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School Dimapur with her project ‘Anthropogenic Activities on Land’ and Vihulie (14) of Alderville School Jotsoma with his project ‘Alder Trees Impact on Jhum Cultivation.’ Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare and Women Development Chotisuh Sazo was the chief guest and Deputy Commissioner of Phek Mikha Lomi was the guest of honour.
