9th Auto & MotoX 2026 begins in Mokokchung

The 9th Auto & MotoX along with the Northeast Championship Round 2026, organised by the Adventure and Motorsports Association Mokokchung (AMAM), commenced today at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, drawing motorsports enthusiasts and competitors from across Nagaland and the Northeast.

The event, scheduled from February 6 to 7, features competitive Autocross (AutoX) and MotoX categories and is recognised as a key round of the Northeast Championship 2026. With a total prize pool of Rs  3.50 lakhs, the championship has attracted strong participation across categories.

The morning session saw the official flag-off of AutoX by Imkumwapang, District Transport Officer, Mon, who attended as the Inaugural Patron. The session included a special prayer by Rachel Jamir of APW Kumlong Baptist Arogo and a tribute to Kamlesh Das.

AutoX competitions are being conducted across four categories: Below 1300cc, SUV, Open, and the Northeast Challenge. A total of 24 drivers are competing in the Below 1300cc category, 10 in the SUV category, 25 in the Open category, and 33 participants in the Northeast Challenge.

The afternoon session marked the flag-off of MotoX, led by Longden Longkumer, Managing Director of LL Group Nagaland, as the Inaugural Patron. The session featured a welcome address by Toshi Kichu, Convenor of the 9th Auto & MotoX 2026. MotoX events are being held in Beginner and Open categories, with 10 riders competing in the Beginner category and eight riders in the Open category.

The championship will conclude on February 7 with the final runs and prize distribution ceremony, to be graced by Wangpang Konyak, MLA and Advisor, Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland, as the Special Guest.

 

The event is sponsored by Nagaland Minerals & Mines, PitStop Kohima, MG Dimapur, Ahibi, and Digi Printer. AMAM stated that the championship aims to promote competitive yet safe motorsports while providing a platform for emerging talent from the region.
