‘A big relief’: NNC (Parent Body) on RN Ravi’s transfer

Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): The Naga National Council (Parent Body) issued a statement on Sunday terming former Nagaland Governor RN Ravi’s exit as “a big relief for the Naga people.” The former Governor also held the dual role as Government of India’s Interlocutor to the Indo-Naga Peace Talks.

Vice President Zhiongba Yimkhiung informed that the statement was issued based on the ‘long deliberations’ among leaders of the NNC (Parent Body) on the present political development in the Naga Homeland.

“The NNC (Parent Body) is happy and delighted to state that RN Ravi who was the interlocutor for Indo-Naga Peace Talk is already dropped and transferred to Tamil Nadu as Governor,” the statement read, while alluding the exit to be ‘humiliation’ and also a “big relief for the Naga people as a whole.”

The NNC (Parent Body) also alleged that the former governor, during his stint as an Interlocutor during the peak of negotiations in June 2018, had “conspired in connivance with certain leaders and victimised the official representative who was one of the negotiators and the signatory of the November 17, 2017 Political Agreement signed between the Government of India and the six Naga National Political Groups.”

The NNC (Parent Body) will not forgive nor forget the “conspiracies and political victimisation towards the Parent Body of the Nagas,” the statement asserted.

It further stated that the NNC (Parent Body) is “closely watching the new political dispensation in the making,” with regard to the Indo-Naga Peace Talk, which is going to officially resume again between the new Interlocutor and the different Naga Political Groups as desired by the people of Naga Homeland and India.

The NNC (Parent Body) is seriously contemplating whether the new Interlocutor appointed by the Government of India for Indo-Naga Talk would deliver peace, justice and freedom to all the Naga stakeholders and the people of Naga Homeland as a whole, it added.
