Truth and hope can generate power; Power to win the foes of life. Today, Humanity has been engulfed with greed for money, position, name and recognition rather than being interested in the cause of the Nation. National interest has been replaced by individual concern. Hence, our present generation is at stake and future endangered. Peace is missing. Solutions are difficult. Nevertheless, we cannot afford to remain silent or stay inactive. We must resolve our problems or we die defeated as fools. We cannot escape our responsibility. We must act our part or we lose the game. Our indifference and inaction towards our society will have irreparable impact on our lives and society. There will be no better tomorrow unless we create it today. Solution is possible. Peace is possible. Hope is possible. Together we can create Peace and a generation of Hope.
Our society today needs more of moral action and less of preaching. To do it, we need moral courage than what wealth and position can do us good. Renewing our old good culture should be the minds and action of our people and society; the culture that honor life, truthfulness, honesty and loving kindness. Our nation cannot thrive on corrupt morality. We must change the current down trend or we will fall prey to our own making or unmaking of the society. If we can be a mere and mute spectator at the sight of growing threats, than we have not been in the light of truth or we are blind.
The long and patient struggle of the true Naga Nationalists for Naga freedom has been greatly distorted by greed and selfish action of many. There are many professing Nationalists who are actually not nationalists but beggars or tax collectors like that of Jesus’ time. These groups are really confusing and distorting the people from defining the true Nationalists. I thought the Naga Nationalists are true people who really give their life, their time and their families for the cause of liberating and saving our nation. I may be wrong but I see that they are taking the lives of others by their guns rather than giving their own for the nation; they are taking their time for pleasure and luxury rather than giving their time for serving and building the Nation. Their homes are above the national homeland, they prefer their families above the National family. I see more of factional interest and less of national interest. I don’t ignore the few true nationalists rather I highly honor them greatly but the activities of those true ones are silently being ignored. It is wonderment for me to see those nationalists with their highly classed vehicles and standard dwelling houses professing themselves as national workers. I dare not ask them, what they are doing as nationalists, because I would be hurting them for waking their sense and nerves. But I have this question to ask the Naga people; Will these rich Naga National workers work or sacrifice to defend and fight for the cause of the Naga Nation keeping their wealth and comfort giving luxury home life behind them? Are they National Freedom fighters or money hunters? We need to redefine and classify the true National workers from money hunters or power mongers.
I use to think, that taxation by national workers are to buy and increase defense Arm forces, to own war planes, artillery training, manufacturing weapons solely to defend the Nation. But oh! to my big surprise, the wealth they gathered have given freedom and they have forgotten our national Freedom. Today we are under bondage not from outside forces but of self made prison. Public are living in fear of National killers. Fierce animals are all hunted and are no more to be feared in our land. Now we have fiercer animals with arms in sheep clothing around us whom we mistake to be our defenders. But they turn to be our attackers. Is there a hope for peaceful survival in our land? Ceasefire with India but unceasing firing among us is what talks for solution all about? I thought cease-fire is ‘surrender’ in military term. But is there a meaning for cease-fire in political term? A stoppage of mouth-firing or gun-firing in political dialogue? Why Nagas are talking about ceasefire in political dialogue with the GOI when the term is not settled but for settlement with agreement? Has the settlement arrived between the Nagas and GOI for ceasefire to be declared? I think the term ceasefire should mean Settlement of the conflict rather than for settlement. Ceasefire is not Peace or freedom for the Nagas in actual sense, though many of our Past Naga leaders thought to be. The short term peace has brought about long time conflict for the Nagas. May be we are either wrong in the approach or wrong attitude or we misunderstand the truth. Do we take the wrong formula to be right one? We need to relook our past deeds and see where we stand today. Our past action should teach us to do right action today.
Much of our resources, hope and interest have been lost in the struggle for Peace that is Naga Freedom. Nevertheless, we cannot afford to give-up our cause or struggle at the expense of losing our lasting Freedom. The lost hope and the weakened courage should be renewed, revitalized and move on till the truth shall reveal to us our cherished destination.
We are at the cross road of choices and confusions. Nevertheless, we must not falter or lose our courage to hold on to our, We must rather reaffirm our commitment with greater zeal and renewed energy believing that we are the torch bearers of truth as light for the younger generations which we are undeniably responsible. The path we take is a risky road yet the only way; the Road to freedom. All other road will lead to naught. Let us call forth our new spirit of nationalism; of service and of responsibility toward building our nation. The master Rock of ages bid us go on forward, and upward with the torch of truth as light and power to march onto Freedom at last.
