Kohima, May 27 (MExN): The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) today termed the reported LPG pilfering case in Kohima as a “very serious crime and an insult to the consumers of state capital.”

It further lauded the alertness of consumers of Officers’ Hill colony Kohima for detecting 18 “water filled cylinders” which allegedly had about 70 percent water mixed.”
The LPGs were replaced and the remaining 21 faulty cylinders were detected on May 24, the NVCO said in the press release from its Press and Media Cell.
Earlier, the NVCO said that it had received verbal complaints from the leaders of Officers’ Hill colony, Kohima and by the time the aggrieved consumers had already reported to the service provider but initially the response was not satisfactory.
Later on the service provider had asked the aggrieved consumers to return the water filled LPG for replacement, it added.
In this regard, the NVCO President Kezhokhoto Savi asked the investigating agency to investigate this “serious crime committed upon the consumers of state capital thoroughly.”
“Even the service provider as well as the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) should not remain silent” but act upon the issue as their own, he said.
He further appealed the consumers of other districts in Nagaland to remain as a ‘watch dog’ so as to prevent from water filled LPG cylinder, shortage of weight, black-marketing, etc.
Meanwhile, the NVCO questioned the State Government as to “why so much of malpractices” in trade or business are occurring in Nagaland.
The State Government should look into the present Kohima LPG pilfering case seriously so as to stop this kind of unfair trade practices in the state in the midst of this ongoing pandemic, it added.
The NVCO further maintained that presently the consumers are facing more challenges and required to be more responsible with the increase in manipulation, adulteration and other unfair trade practices.
