A1 Tsungiki lifts 11th Lotha Football Championship

Wokha, February 10 (MExN): A1 Tsungiki lifted the 11th Lotha Football Championship (LFC) by beating Friends Club Wokha Village by 2-1 on February 10. The championship organised by Wokha District Football Association was played at local ground Wokha.

The winning goals for A1 Tsungiki came from the boots of Yiben and Senlo Kent while the lone goal for Friends Club Wokha Village was scored by Aloumai, Friends Club got an opportunity to make the dally 2-2. However, the tournament top scorer Lirhonthung failed to find the net as he missed to score the penalty kick in the 68th minutes.

Benrithung of A1 Tsungiki was adjudged the player of the tournament, best goalkeeper was bagged by Mhao Kikon of A1 Tsungiki, Thomas (Friends Club) got the best defender, best midfielder-Zuben (NRSA), Lirhonthung (Friends club) Highest Scorer, while the best Discipline team was awarded to Tsumang Young Stars. Cash, trophy and certificates’ were awarded to all the individuals.

The champions walk away with a cash award of Rs 120,000 along with medals, trophy and certificates, Runner-up of the tournament received medals, certificates, trophy and a cash award of Rs 60,000. Loosing semi finalist of the tournament, Longsa SA and NRSA also received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 each.

Earlier, the closing ceremony of the championship was graced by YM Humtsoe, NCS (Retd) Vice President NDPP, Minister of State (Status) Nagaland as the special guest. Addressing a mammoth crowd at the local ground, Humtsoe urged the players not just to play the game for fun or be an occasional player but encouraged the players to be dedicated and give their best to perform well in higher arenas because this beautiful game called football has got amble opportunity to excel in one’s life.

The special guest also donated an amount of Rs 25,000 each to both the finalist team.
