ABAM asserts to fight corrupted election

Mokokchung, August 27 (MExN): The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), upon recognizing the exigent need for change in the electioneering system in Nagaland has launched the ‘clean election movement’ (CEM) at Import under the theme ‘My Vote, My future’ on August 27.

According to the apex body of the Ao Baptist churches, ABAM clean election movement’s visions is to “Educate the people to choose God-fearing and apt leaders; In the power and strength of God, we will fight against the sin of the corrupted election; and Work towards free and fair election.”

ABAM Executive Secretary, Rev Dr Mar Pongener declaring the CEM campaign said, “Bitterness may come along our endeavor, but perceiving that we are doing for a good cause, let us not be weary but stand firm in the truth to bring changes to our dysfunctional political system and practices.”

ABAM CEM, Convener Rev Dr Noklen Longkümer, presented the details on the vision and the action plan of the movement. Dr I Lolen Imchen, President, ABAM, Ao Students’ Union (AKM) and Mokokchung Town Youth Fellowship addressing the people asserted that, “At any cost we will be available to work with you together and therefore, work with courage and tenacity of determination.”

A total of 63 persons consisting of the members of ABAM Clean Election Movement Committee and the residents of Impur have pledged “to abide by the truth and be faithful to choose God-fearing and apt leaders who can straighten the crookedness of the present Naga electioneering scenario.” 

“As we continue to press on, we ask every individual to uphold the true Christian character and work together for a drastic change in the coming Nagaland Legislative Election,” the ABM appealed.
