Ao Baptist Church Association (ABAM) held a farewell program to honor outgoing Executive Secretary Rev Dr Prof Mar Pongener on February 27.

MOKOKCHUNG, FEBRUARY 27 (MExN): The Ao Baptist Church Association (ABAM) held a farewell program on February 27 to honour Rev Dr Prof Mar Pongener, the outgoing Executive Secretary of ABAM, as he transitions to his new role as the General Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC).
Rev Dr Pongener, who served as ABAM's seventh Executive Secretary, received recognition for his contributions to strengthening the relationship between the churches and ABAM during his four years in office. The event featured songs and speeches from various organizations and institutions that expressed appreciation for his leadership.
In his farewell speech, Rev Dr Pongener thanked his wife, children, the ABAM Secretaries and staff, Longjang Baptist Church, his relatives, and fellow pastors for their support throughout his tenure. He acknowledged the importance of their encouragement and offered his apologies for any mistakes made during his time with ABAM. He also wished the incoming Executive Secretary success and expressed hope for continued progress within the organization.
Rev Dr Pongener’s appointment as the General Secretary of NBCC was met with congratulations from ABAM, which expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to him and wished him success in his new role.
During the program, Rev Ayutemjen, President of ABAM, reflected on the biblical passage from 2 Peter 1:10, emphasizing that success lies in living up to one’s vocation. He described Rev Dr Pongener as an exemplary figure in this regard and expressed confidence that he would continue to serve effectively in his new capacity at NBCC.
Until the appointment of the new Executive Secretary, Rev L Yapang Mollier will serve as the officiating Executive Secretary of ABAM. The formal handing over of duties was conducted by Rev Ayutemjen.
