Impur, May 25 (MExN): In commemoration of the 150 years of Christianity in Nagaland, the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) has started an open air prayer and fasting from March 2022.
The prayer and fasting was conducted so far at Jangjanglong Moapu (Waromung), Ongjina Tenem (Merangkong), Maipang Tenem (Khar), and Mongoya Prayer Garden (Chuchuyimpang), which was attended by full-time ministers from 22 churches and will continue to hold more.
“There is power in prayer, and we are assured that nothing is possible without prayer. As God’s gracious presence led us through the 150 years, we need to ask for his blessings by first confessing our sins, for which this prayer program is organized. There is no greater joy and boons than to see the ministers of God bowing down on the open ground and praying for forgiveness,” Rev Dr Mar Pongener, Executive Secretary, ABAM said in a press release. “And it has been a joy to see the tears of the devoted people praying to God to bless our land and we believe that there are brighter days ahead,” he said.
The Executive Secretary also exhorted “the believers” saying, “Come, let us reason together. Isn’t it a blessing that since the arrival of Christianity, God has not taken His Spirit away from us? If God’s Spirit departs from us, we will return to the ground, and all our plans will perish (Ps. 146:4).”
“May all believers prepare prayerfully as we await the celebration of the 150 Jubilee,” he added.
